Gilt Taste Launches Wine & Spirits Top 100 Collection

Find your favorites

This week, the online gourmet food and wine retailer Gilt Taste launches a selection of the best wines from Wine & Spirits Magazine’s annual Top 100 list. Now in its eighth year, the highly anticipated annual awards honor 100 international wineries that deliver the best overall performance in the W&S tastings throughout the year.

Starting today, wine enthusiasts will have direct access through Gilt Taste to allotments from these celebrated wineries. These collectible bottles are rarely available to consumers not on the winemakers’ mailing lists or with access to auction.

The selection includes the wines of Fleury Père & Fils, France’s first winegrower in Champagne to biodynamically produce wines, and Hermann Wiemer’s estate grown and bottled Gewurtraminer and Late Harvest Riesling, New York state’s most highly regarded white wines, bright with minerality from the region’s shale-dominated soil.

The capstone of the collection is a preciously rare allotment of 3L bottles of Le Macchiole Messorio, a cult wine that often draws comparisons to the classics of Bordeaux’s Pomerol region, including Château Pétrus and Vieux-Château-Certan. Messorio production never exceeds 750 cases per year, and is infrequently available in large format. This wine, at nearly $2,000 per bottle, is only for a serious collector—or a serious party.
