It was a first growth in the 1855 classification The estate consists of 110 hectares with 68 under vine making it one of the largest in the Sauternes appellation. Three wines are produced; a grand wine;a second wine now called Carmes de Rieussec [ but originally called Chateau Mayne des Carmes ]; and R.Rieussec which is a dry white wine under the simple Bordeaux appellation
