Visually, the wine was very golden, which made me expect it to have heavy oak flavor. Fortunately, it had more balanced french oak. On the nose: Apple/Pear, mineral, very fragrant. I could smell the wine standing several feet away. Flavor: Green apple peel, ripe pear, smooth mouthfeel, balanced acidity, some mineral notes. Overall: I really liked this wine. It went well with a herbed french goat cheese(a little herby funk). Definitely thought this bottle was a reasonable deal for the price.

I guess I should have not bought a wine based on an interesting label, though the promise of petite Syrah and petit Verdot seemed to be a good gamble. On the nose it had a strange oaky barnyard thing, which may have been interesting but for the overpowering nature of the oak. The oak seemed to be compensating for something, though perhaps that is what the target audience of this wine enjoy. On the palette, the wine had some jammy components, but immediately tasted boozy and oaky and pretty much gross.

On the nose: Interesting collection of earthy, gamey scents, with dried red fruit, cigar and red cherry notes. At first it was a bit funky, but as it aerated it turned a bit mellower and more subtle aromas came out. I recommend a good hour or two decanting. On the palette: Good acidity, medium tannins, strong dark fruit and cocoa. Good cigar, tobacco and smoked meat. Dried plum, hints of red cherry and pleasant traces of vanilla (french oak). Overall: The wine had a lot of funky action going on, but I liked it. The wine wasn't exceptionally subtle and likely a bit much for those less accustomed to branching out and trying strange wines. I liked it and thought it was a good value for the price. The wine was 100% Marzemino varietal, as well.

On the nose: Initially there were beef jerky, smoky chocolate notes. After an hour aerating, more fruit aromas came out, such as raspberry, hints of vanilla, jam and some flowery spice. On the pallete: Noticeably tannins, decent acidity, likely could have aged a bit longer. Decent raspberry, meaty, earthy flavors. Kind of got a tangy honey note at some point. Overall, complex wine that was enjoyable to analyze. I liked the nose more than the flavor of the wine. A very solid wine and we enjoyed it.

Flawed bottle, but still drinkable. The wine was cloudy and lightly carbonated. There was still some good minerality, some light apple peel and decent acidity. I probably should have returned the bottle, but we managed to get through it.

Good acidity and interesting mineral and citrus notes. It was hard to pinpoint many distinctive aromas or flavor, but the balance and weight was good. For the price a good every day wine. I used it in cooking some turkey burritos and it worked wonderfully.
