This pours with a rustic cherry coloration and has opaque qualities about....nice appearance! The aromas are of cherry, grape and unfortunately not much else....some booze and perhaps a touch of dark chocolate. The flavors are not that great either, with plenty of fruit juice, some mild oak and chocolate as well. Mouthfeel is the best part of this one, being velvety smooth but overall it is way too easy in terms of drinkability....I can drink this by the glass without thought. Poor effort by Carnivor....its good but in just an ok kind of way

Pours a rusty violet color and shows nice clarity in the hue. The aromas are of rustic cherry, Earthy/damp peat, slight leather and smooth all around. The flavors are of ripe deep assorted berry (blackberry, blueberry, cherry), very subtle oaked spice, vanilla creaminess and very well balanced alcohol. The mouthfeel is velvety smooth, and with a medium body. Solid wine and recommended!

This one pours a rusty purple hued tone, with cranberry and blueberry tinges around the outside ring. Also has an oily film that is left on the inside of the wine glass. Aromas that are superbly fruit forward, with jammy sweet berries, vanilla, peppercorn heat, hints of caramel and notes of sweet oak aging. Flavors follow suit, with more sweet berry, vanilla spice, peppery spice, Oaked Earth and charred toffee. The mouthfeel is velvety smooth & robust on the palate, leaving behind just enough flavor to ponder on, until the next sip.

The coloration would be a murky rusty brown Earth with a tawny ring around the rim. The aromas are of spicy alcohol upfront before any swirling, with black cherry and concord sweetness. Flavors are pretty close to the aromas with sweet cherry, spiced vanilla, subtle dry oak making up the bulk along with dark chocolate and deep plummy fruits on the finish. The mouthfeel is velvety smooth, especially as it approaches room temperature, and the initial booziness softens and the flavors coat the palate rather well, leaving behind a rich lingering aftertaste. This still has several years of life and I think would further develop into a hugely well rounded LBV!

Enjoyed Dec 25/18 Beginnings of tawny coloration happening with background colors of Earthy rust & black currant, and overall it is somewhat murky. Aromas are a medley of big time alcohol initially, huge peppery spice, old leather strap, Earthy soils and a fruity mineral that helps round things out. On the palate, there is a boozy tinge that straightens out to smooth, yet dried fruit with some aggressive aeration. Chocolate, peppercorn spice, and astringent mineral on the finish leaves the palate scrambling for more! The mouthfeel is dry, yet smooth, with a medium body. I feel that this is still in its' prime and has another 3-5 years of longevity in it before needing to be enjoyed

Tasted Dec 2018....Been saving this one for a number of years now! Coloration is of pale gold, Champagne and hints of slate green, with super clear clarity. Aromas of mature Granny Smith apple, sweet Bartlett Pear, Gooseberry tartness, lime zest, slate rock minerals in the background and rich fungus infected grape. Flavors that follow suit, with big time tart/semi tart apple, of which Granny Smith, Honeycrisp and Golden Delicious come to mind, along with with stone minerality, tart limey zest and slight unripe grape zing. The mouthfeel still makes me pucker a little, which I love by the way, however, the aging process has allowed a silkiness to find its way in, and the finish is becoming buttery smooth. This will age well for another 5 years to come yet!

Cranberry/rusty coloration with a near tawny brown tinge around the edge....decent clarity, but does have some slight murkiness. Good legs suggesting a medium body. The aromas are mellow, and with deep richness....black cherry, pomegranate, subdued oak, hints of peppercorn spice and very slight Earthiness. The flavors follow suit, with the dark skinned fruit showing prominence....plummy/prune nuances, ripe cherry, smooth Earthy soil....excellent flavor! The mouthfeel is smooth and luxurious, medium body and pairs well with mature Irish cheddar and double cooked ham! This is delectable now and for the next several years to come...at least another 5 years (2023). Enjoyed Nov 2018

Found a bottle of this at a local store Nov 2018! Looking forward to trying this one out! Pours a slightly muddied rust color with tinges of cranberry/dark cherry juice tones....plenty of oily legs run down the inside of the glass in slow syrupy fashion....impressive looking! The aroma is boozy, even after some air and swirling, but underlying Earthy berry and leather dominating.....almost some peppercorn spice underlies into the nostrils and perhaps some hints of tobacco. Flavors that are robust and deep, with some berry tartness still showing, leafy Earth, tobacco spice, cinnamon and peppercorn that shows some bite and the lingering finish is of cherry and maybe, just maybe some sweet red grape. The mouthfeel is medium/full and definitely dessert like and the finish is certainly drier than other ports of this age/winery. I would seek this out again, and it goes well with sharp cheddar cheese or dark chocolate. A fine Port that even at this stage could still go another 5+ years!

This pours a deep rusty red color, with a clear brown ring around the inside of the glass...suspended air bubbles sit right underneath the liquid top. It also seems to have an oily texture when swirled. The aromas are of deeply ripened berries, subdued alcoholic tang, spearmint leaf, and I dare say a slightly soapy oaked character....interesting to say the least. The flavors quickly put to rest the unorthodox smells this gave off, with dark berry, vanilla oak floral petals, and some dry mineral tones dominating the palate. The mouthfeel is smooth, yet tannic on the finish.....highly drinkable and overall this brings a deeper depth to this variety than a lot of other Cabs I've enjoyed. Recommended!

Beautiful cranberry coloration with blueberry juice hues, especially around the rim....nicely saturated with a velvety sheen overall and clear too! Incredibly huge caramel aromas, with big bold berries (blueberry, black cherry, raspberry), along with hints of plum, Earthy wood (oak), mocha vanilla creme and just a light alcoholic tinge. Flavors follow suit, with big berry fruit, slight robust toffee sweetness, some peppery spice and a drying woodsy astringency on the finish. Smooth overall on the palate with just a small burn going down after the swallow. First time trying this variety out and I'm impressed! A nice little gem of a find......definitely recommend!
