Nose of cherries, spices, flavors of more cherries , zesty strawberries, cloves, with some decent acidity. Positively nebbiollo. Although this needs time, the fruit gets a little on the plume side with a few hours of air. This is very good, but they were really on a roll a few years back.

Wow, a punch of dark fruit and elegance! Fragrant nose, very intriguing, floral with black cherries, velvet like, silky elegance of big time pleasure. This has mellowed out and has become such a refined beauty since the UGCB. The initial entry for the first hour had a slight olive-cassis tone that reminded me very much of the 2007 Haut Brion. Within the next hour of decanting this wine, it fleshed out with more dark cherry, velvet texture, super focus and balance, bursting with fruit along the great mid palate and finish, yet delicate at the same time. Integrated and seductive fruit already. This Domaine de Chevalier 2008 has less of that vanilla cream-oak than the 06, and for the better. The tobacco and tar start to unfold after the third hour. This wine is already singing at this young stage: July 18th, 2011, enjoy it while its fresh for the next several years. I'm sure it has great ability to age, but this is coming out of the gate in front, and seamless. I recommend consuming the first few hours while decanted to experience the magic while it unfolds. Certainly one of the stars of the vintage, and ahead of most left bank wines of 2008.

Complex nose of pepper, gunpowder, and red fruits. Medium body, tightly knit with burst of fruit and good length. Classic style. A bit tight right now, but very promising. Subtle and classy.

This wine had a nice nose, good body and balance, well integrated, but a slight tart, greeness to it. I had a bottle of this 1998 about 7 years ago, and I remember it being outstanding. I'm not sure what happened, but I may need to encounter it once again.

a beautiful nose, just stunning, with perfume of flowers and red fruits. The entry is very nice and classy, but from there it shows its weakensss. Nice black berries and with a bit of cool menthol, it 's a bit lean, and short. With more air a bit of cream comes in, but a bit light and not very complex. Still, when finding this wine for under $25, one can get a flash of fair pleasure on the nose and enrty that has more in common with a high class wine, and that is worth the price of this admission alone.

A fairly rich wine of of spice and berries, a good mouth full and feel, cedar, with a bit of iron, and cocoa. Decent complexity and length. I need to revist this one again, as the jury is still out. I caught a bit of iron and plum that may not be a regular showing for this wine. On any account, this wine had some substance and was drinking well enough as of April, 2010.

consumed 11/2009 comes out of the bottle maroon in color, at first, a fair amount of cedar and oak, with berries, tea, and lovely fruit . After 4 hours of decanting this wine sings, and is well integrated with multi layers, and good length. Excellent!

complex nose of god knows what, red currants, tar, and tobacco. Entry is nice, but like mentioned in a previous review, a lack of complexity on the finish and it IS a bit hot with a touch of sweetness. I'm still trying to decide if this is marvelous or a sad decline. For a 1995, tasting it right now March 2nd, of 2010, I am a bit surprised how mature this wine is. Kind of a treat that reminds me of a Bordeaux from the early 1980's.

I had this 2007 along side of the 2006. Almost like a different wine all together, but a beauty never the less. Bright red fruits, with tannins that are present, but yield to early drinking pleasure. I find this wine to be fresh and exciting. A wine that drinks well early, it's open and good to go as of early 2010. I find this wine neither better nor worse than the 2006, but a whole different experience. One of the better wines of 2007 Bordeaux.
