At first opening, quite tannic, nose had hints of lavender and did not seem like a claret - more like a true Napa cab. After 30 minutes of airing, the wine balanced out, became more like a french claret and the finish was long and stately. Overall an enjoyable experience and could age for at least 5 more years

What a surprise! I have enjoyed Knight's Valley Cabs in the past but I had low expectations for one that was 22 years old. Right from the nose it was clear that the wine had survived well and was a classic Napa cab. The color had only a trace of mahogany. On the palate there was big fruit, subdued tanins and that pleasant finish that tells you the wine has great structure. Too bad it was my last one!

What a terrific wine. With very little breathing the nose told one that this was going to be exceptional and there was no disappointment in the mouth. Perfect balance, soft tanins and a huge finish made this wine one of the better experiences of late.

A bit on the austere side at first in the nose and on the palate but after 20 minutes of breathing developed into a well balanced wine. Color, mahogany around the edges and fruit still strong with soft tanins.

The wine had a lot of structure left however the fruit was a little thin. It did not have that big warmth one is accustomed to in a Napa Cab of this age.

Drunk on 6/14/08 at Chapeau in San Francisco. Nose had a vegetal overtone, slightly mahogany in color. A little austere on the palette and tanins were alive and well. After one hour of airing, opened up with wonderful floral overtones that complemented the solid structure of the wine. Medium finish which was surprising - a longer one would have been more in character.

We were surprised to see that the wine was still quite tannic. Unfortunately there was not the fruit to back it up so the overall effect was a little disappointing.

By the time we drank this, it had become a little faded. We could tell that it was once an excellent wine but we waited too long!

This one of those wines I characterize with the word interesting. A very mature wine and I am glad we did not wait too much longer to consume. The cork was intact with no ullage. The nose a little disappointing which improved somewhat with decanting. On the palette quite enjoyable and a long finish. The wine was not faded or out of balance per se but rather had taken a turn somewhere in the again process.

Wine drunk as part of a 1977 battle along with Clos du Val Cab and a Carneros Creek Fay Vineyard Cab. This was the winner. It had retained all the fruit, the tanins were smoothed out, the least mahogany and on the palette, hard to imagine a better example of a Napa Stags Leap Cab. A wonderful experience
