Ruby with a hint of brick at the rim. Subtle yet beguiling nose with marzipan, rose, cherry, strawberry, spice and tobacco; utterly unbelievable complexity matched to subtle elegance. Palate is saturated with all the characters from the nose so profoundly it is making me salivate uncontrollably! A wine or rare beauty and profundity. Bravo. After 2 hours: Has opened showing more autumnal, darker notes. Black fruits, spices, tobacco, massively concentrated and long. Utterly gorgeous, with an almost Asian spice/stock opulence. Totally hedonistic! Has line on the nose however that is possible. Unbelievable wine, life changing!

Garnet with hints of brick. Lifted aromas of cherry, spice, undergrowth and flowers. Complex strawberry "sexy" smells. Seamless follow through, ripe, positive and long. No sappiness or coarseness just beautiful sweet fruit, spices and floral hints. Sublime. After 2 hours: More nuanced on the nose, more balanced. Palate has evolved revealing less bright notes and more chocolate, coffee, spice character. Smoother, rounder and much, much longer. More cherry less strawberry, it seems somehow deeper and darker. After swallowing this wine it is making me salivate profusely- the mark of greatness.

Garnet fading to hints of brick. Savoury nose with cherry and spice and tiny hint of sappiness which doesn't seem at all green but adds structure. Supple velvet tannins and faint acid give line and length to a wine that follows the nose perfectly with cherry, spice and hints of sois bois. Persistent finish lingering on back palate. Carries more weight than expected give the village. After 1 1/2 hours was more supple, open and expessive.

Tasted XMAS 05: Crimson fading to garnet. Meaty nose with blackcurrant and blackberry, supporting vanillin oak and hints of raisins. Fresh palate with good acid and tannic grip. Youthful blackcurrant/blackberry follow the nose exactly with raisin nuances. Finishes a little short.

Crimson fading to rim. Bright, lifted Left Bank red apple skin/cassis/cedar/cigar box. Sweet, lifted and very fine. Long firm palate with sweet blackcurrant and cedar, long and fine. Classic claret, lovely.
