  • GregDean is a good bloke and yes does make some good wineUnfortunately history showed thatv too many of our winemakers were seduced by Parker Points which were awarded for high alcohol "fruit bombs" sadly it was not the fruit that was the problem it was the decision to harvest later to "engineer" high alcohol. The big problem we found with these ... • Being one of the largest privately owned winery, Scotchman’s Hill is one of the best wine producers of the Bellarine Peninsula, just 30 mins out of Geelong (about 90 mins from Melbourne). It produces quality, cool climate wine but not just with fruit grown off their 250 hectares of largely fertile volcanic soils of black clay with basalt. Their ... Read More

  • Peter Lehmann Drawcard Shiraz Mataro 2010 AUD$25. This is the first time I have seen this label from PL, and thought it reasonably priced to warrant a go. It pours a crimson black colour with a dark ruby rim, and boasts an attractive, medium weighted nose of violets and blackcurrant fruit. The aromas are clean, with no distractions in the backgr... • Bradbury Cabernet Sauvignon Clare Valley Mclaren Vale 2004

Really, really nice for the price paid. Deep dark purple in appearance, bold dark fruit, licquorice and mint in taste but not too heavy at all. This is not what I was expecting from a CabSav at all but this tastes as good as a wine 2 or 3 times the price so this represents exceptional value. Read More

  • In case you missed our latest email.Australian Shiraz has had a tough time of it lately. Many fine and historic wines have been pushed to the back burner as inexpensive private labels designed for the American Market have captured an ever increasing share of the demand for Shiraz.
