Listrac-Medoc is a commune in the Medoc region of Bordeaux. Its soil is more clay than gravel, so it is less renowned than nearby communes, but the wines can still be very good and can represent excellent value. Merlot-based wines do better in this terroir.

  • Well, DV, the Bordeaux Release is the largest ever, I think, with something like 241 product listings.  However, the advertisement was pretty much strictly on their internet site and at various locations set to offer the wines for sale.  To me, the whole operation is amateurish and stuck on the idea of first come, first served line-ups on the ea... • Chateau Fourcas Dupre Listrac-Medoc 2008

I bought this bottle of wine from the website 43 metres above sea-level, the commune of Listrac is the highest ground on the Medoc peninsular and the soil is a mixture of gravel, clay and limestone. Chateau Foursas Dupre is a well known 46 hectare estate which is now in the hands of the Patrice Bages f... Read More

  • Chateau Clarke 2005

It is easy to see that Michel Roland has had some success here; the Merlot backbone of this wine has cedar-box, black pepper and sweet raspberry on the nose and (surprising to me, at least) en bouche, there is plenty of soft tannin (no annoying oak invading this, however) and a creamy, soft, quite satisfying long finish. Heavily worked, but not... Read More
