Aloxe-Corton is an appellation created in 1938,although viticulture here goes back centuries, for red and white wines [but over 90% are red] from the commune of Aloxe-Corton and the neighbouring commune of Ladoix-Serigny on the Cote de Beaune section of Burgundy’s Cote d’Or. It contains the Grands Crus Corton and Corton-Charlemagne, sharing the latter with Ladoix-Serrigny. Corton is the only red Grand Cru in the Cote de Beaune; Corton Charlemagne is white.
