Cabardès Wine

The Cabardes is a small appellation [ only 500 hectares under vine ] created in 1999 for red and rose wines from an area north of Carcassonne in France. Viticulture in this area goes back to at least the Romans.  It is one of the few appellations to blend varietals from the Atlantic (Merlot ,malbec and Cabernet) with those from the Mediterranean (Grenache and Syrah).Wines must be a blend with a minimum of 40% from each category. Around twenty estates exist within the AOC, making the bottlings rare values.
