Vinsobres is an appellation created in 2006,although there has been viticulture here since before the Romans, for red wines only from around the hilltop village of that name.Back in 1967 it had been made one of the named villages in the Cotes du Rhone Villages appellation so 2006 was a promotion.. Vinsobres is located about halfway between Montelimar and Avignon 5 miles west of Nyons on the eastern side of the Rhone valley in the valley of the Eygues, a tributary of the Rhone. The name is beleived to derive from the Latin 'vin sobris' meaning 'wine and work''in the 17th century the local bishop Monseigneur de Suares coined the motto 'vin sober drink it soberly' which is still quoted today

  • Famille Perrin Vinsobres les Cornuds 2009

    Snoothrank:

Gamy pomegranate fruit hits the nose followed by notes of juniper, violet, and a whisper of coffee bean. This is rich and soft in the mouth, downright supple with a fine tension of sweet dark slightly stewy fruits and chalky, savory tannins. This lacks some acidity but does delivery good, rich woodsy, huckleberry and black berry flavors right t... Read More

  • Perrin & Fils Vinsobres les Cornuds 2009

    Snoothrank:

A young, tight fruit-driven nose, rather like Gamay. A strong, bracing violet note. Dark plum flavors, as well as blackberry, some anise and a strong, tangy iron edge. Big and brash. Needs food for sure. Read More

  • Famille Perrin Vinsobres les Cornuds 2009

    Snoothrank:

A splendid little wine by Perrin et fils, this regular Southern Rhone offering is redolent of wild blueberry and bilberry with soft tannin and blended red fruit mid-palate - perfect for current consumption from a highly touted vintage (which, in this instance, actually draws a bull's eye). Smooth, slightly sweet, creamy style is perfect at this ... Read More

  • Famille Perrin Vinsobres les Cornuds 2009

    Snoothrank:

Lovely deep red with blackish hints of colour. Fragrant with dark cherries, spices, herbs and a wonderful soft yet earthy character. Good tannins but not aggressive, gentle touch of wood. The wine fills the mouth with flavour and leaves the palate with satisfying crispness and rich flavour. Read More
