Pfalz Wine

he Pfalz is a major German wine-producing region and that country’s rising star. It’s got Germany’s sunniest and driest climate, and has gone from being a region that relied on mediocre crosses to make bad, cheap wine to a place that can make superior wines. In addition to that noble grape, the Pfalz is becoming known for Pinot Noir (Spatburgunder in German), Grauburgunder (Pinot Gris), Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc), Gewurztraminer, and Dornfelder. The last of these is a cross that has been making surprisingly quality wines in some places.
