No IGT wine area is identified. Piedmont's gently sloping Langhe hills at the foot of the Alps have been rated among the best in the world for red wine production. This westerly region that borders with Switzerland and France is influenced by the Alps and Apennines (the name Piedmont means "foot of the mountain") and its seasons are very distinctive. Hot, dry summers, cold winters, and temperate springs and autumns are common with occasional fog during harvest time. There is a concentration of vineyards around Alba, by the Tanaro river, and others are located in the hills of Langhe and Monferrato in the south east. I bought this bottle of wine for £10 in a pre-Christmas charity auction.Barola was made a DOC in 1966 and a DOCG in 1980 although there has been viticulture here for hundreds of years and is a red wine made of the nebbiolo grape from 11 communes in Piedmont,north-west Italy south-west of Alba,an area known as the Langhe. My bottle was made by the... • Mauro Sebaste Gavi DOCG 2018

Serious upfront fruit in this one--peach, kiwi, green apple. Also, lots of acid tartness which makes the fruitiness tolerable. Acid also gives a lot of spritziness around the edges of the tongue. An OK wine, Read More

Flavors follow suit, with mellow cherry, plum, ripe strawberry sweetness, cocoa and/o... Read More
