Trentino Wine

Trentino is the southernmost province of the Trentino-Alto Adige region in the north of Italy. With its capital Trento, this is the culturally Italian portion of the region. Alto Adige is to its north, some call it Sudtirol, and is mostly German-speaking, long considered part of Austria, which is now on its northern border.

While not as mountainous as Alto-Adige, the climate and scenery in Trentino is still largely influenced by the Alps, which form a rain shadow over the valley. This creates a warm and dry microclimate, with mountain breezes cooling the vineyards down at night, and various lakes and the Adige river providing irrigation.

Trentino encompasses several DOCs that represent specific varietals and/or styles and their location, some with German equivalent names: Teroldego Rotaliano, Caldero (Kalderer), Casteller and Valdidige (Etschtaler). Trentino on Snooth

  • Altemasi Brut Trento

    Snoothrank:

A bit of aged cheese, firm peach and fresh grapefruit aromas with some sweet spice and pleasant white wildflowers. Tangerine and crisp green apple are bright on entry with a spicy and zesty acidity opening the mid palate where more peach and grapefruit flavors emerge and sustain through to a finish of nutty walnut and yeast flavors. • Cesarini Sforza Rose Trento

    Snoothrank:

Bready aromas of strawberry and light cherry with a slight savory note, herb butter and mushrooms. Zesty and fresh palate of citrus fruit - mostly pink grapefruit and lemon with mixed berry and dark ripe cherry, tart plum paste and toasted herb towards a nutty, spiced finish. Searing acidity lifts the palate and keeps the texture just as excitin... Read More
