Inoffensive, but, obviously, over the hill. Very little of the black fruit that I normally see in CS. Still noticeable tannin. Acid is, pretty much, gone. I bought nine of these for $5/bottle at an estate sale. I have paid a lot more for wines that were not as good as this. I will enjoy my remaining bottles, but not with any special meals. Read More

July 30, 2017 review of a 2004 Sterling Vineyards Diamond Mountain Ranch Cab. Sauv. Definitely at its peak, or slightly passed its peak, but not still quite drinkable. Deep black currant and chocolate on the nose and palate. A bit of lavender and rosemary on the tongue. A little smoke and leather in the aftertaste, almost reminiscent of a fine c... Read More

Well, looky here. Another wine-stained label. How, ever does this keep happening? This is an outstanding wine. It validates my confidence in Keenan. Nice suggestion of dried fruit on entry--cassis blueberry, plum. Well-known Spring Mountain tannin does not pop up until mid- to rear-palate. It is not obnoxious at all, it gives the wine char... This Cabernet is in its prime. The tannins have slightly withdrawn. Everything you want a great cab to be is definitely in this vintage. The finish is medium. Read More

RBA-Way to be a good sport. I would have done the same... (Only way I would ... we had two Diamond Mountain Wines: 2007 Ascent and a 2009 Mueller Family. The Ascent was good but the tannins were still very grippy. (My wife preferred the Ascent). The Mueller was more balanced and tasty with a some tannin but not intrusive. I preferred the Muell... Step it up, guys! No one bought anything in three days? I sent my ... Napa Cabs, supposedly all Diamond Mountain fruit, for $20. Right, we are going to find out if there is a $20 Napa Cab that rocks my old tastebuds. The '12 Martin Ray didn't do it, the Stonestreet from Sonoma didn't do it, either. Neither was bad, but we want to find that... Read More

D, we went down to Joshua Tree over spring break, came back via Diamond Bar (been meaning to write a post about the amazing dinner Mr. and Mrs, Emark served us, their hospitality, and that awesome Dunn Howell Mountain that we drank, not to mention some better than perfection Sauternes). Part of the trip was devoted to checking out some colleges... Read More

Earthy, somewhat weedy nose. Standard Cabernet Sauvignon hit of black currant on the tip of the tongue. Then I notice the tanninit seems to swarm over my tongue. Good tartness under the back palate. Very lengthy and satisfying aftertaste. Ive had, maybe, three or four Von Strasser Cabs of various vintages and this may be the best one Ive tried. Read More

Sterling Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Diamond Mountain Ranch 1998 - Wonderful wine at its peak now. Rich aromas, hint of spice, Black currant, and a hint of black liquorish, great stand alone, but also paired well with a sharp cheddar. Drink now.
