Basement Wines started out by buying and storing wine for friends and family from the basement of our house in Santa Clara. In 2001 it grew into an online business with a small warehouse a mile from the house. In 2003 we moved it to Colfax and became a wine bar and wine shop. In 2007 we added food and we're open 7 days a week. – Description from Dragac

  • No wine isn't going away, but DV - you associate with a rare and sophisticated group of people. Most of us are just poor proles who hang out at the local shot-and-a-beer joint, and for us, wine is either red or white and not much beyond. It is true that wine sales are fine, but his point was that on a daily basis, he sees who is buying what and h... • So on a whim we decided to visit British Columbia. But we flew up to Washington, so visited a few places there too. Totally off the subject of wine, I found an awesome bakery in Spokane and the girl there served me this thing that I thought was a kind of Parmesan cheese foam. In fact it was fermented cashew whip, which was definitely weird, but ... Read More

Most people love Niagara Falls because it is such a magical place! There is something in the air, in the water, in the soil, or something in the atmosphere that makes this place so special. Or maybe all of them put together makes the perfect scenario for growing a vineyard and producing fantastic wines. Pssstby the way..Canada produces amazing w... Read More

  • RC - Yes, we belong to Domaine Drouhin.  It's only been a year or so though, so most of the wines we have received are in Sandra's wine racks.  I think she wanted to give this one a try.  We used to belong to Domaine Serene, which is within walking distance.  We enjoy their Pinot also, but their shipping was just way out of bed with other wineri... • I'm hoping we get to relax this coming weekend, but one of my friends (Greg) want's to come over and do some computer gaming.  He is the one that won a computer at our Memorial Day LAN party, and I still have the computer here while he makes room in his townhouse for the machine.  He is giving up his den upstairs to allow for his twins to each h... • RCKR-I can get that Carmenere for $6-7 in my area often. It don't get much better at that basement price point! Yesterday we had this 2014 Sean Mnior Cabernet. Nothing memorable.... Nose was muted, black fruit, not much complexity, medium body, medium finish. For less than $15, it's decent.  Read More
