  • Gnarly Head Old Vine Zinfandel États-Unis Delicato Vineyards 2005

    Snoothrank:

As good as the 04, if not better. Stay away from the 06, even when decanted, falls flat and is disappointing. For the $, the 05 is a great deal. Read More

  • Gnarly Head Zinfandel Lodi Old Vine 2004

    Snoothrank:

Excellent value for the money, 2004 and 2005 are comparable to a Ridge Lytton Springs or an 03 Primitivo. Even when decanted for an hour, the 06 falls flat and isn't worth your time. Read More

  • Avignonesi Supertuscan Blend Toscana IGT Rosso Di 2002

    Snoothrank:

The wine was very fruit-forward, perhaps overly jammy for a sangiovese blend wine. Some hints of rich plum, but otherwise falls flat and somewhat unapproachable. Read More

  • Lucienne Santa Lucia 2005

    Snoothrank:

A beautful cherry burst of flavor and a smooth finish as it falls off the tongue. A wonderful Pinot Noir that rivaled some of my favorite Oregonian Pinots. I don't know the price of the bottle other than what I paid for it in a restaurant. It was $95 at III Forks in Austin, TX so it's anyone's guess what retail would be. I've looked for it i... • Chateau Ste. Michelle Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley 2003

    Snoothrank:

VERY subtle dark fruity nose. Initially a smooth mouth feel, nothing overwhelming. Has a tendency to linger on the palate. Upon swallowing, the tannins do show themselves; a bit biting/acidic at first, but quickly smooth out. All in all, a very satisfying cab/sav and would definitely consider a "BUY AGAIN". In my area (CT.) a tad on the pricey... Read More

  • Thelema Cabernet Sauvignon Stellenbosch 2000

    Snoothrank:

Past it's prime. Drank in November 2007, so this wine is not young. However, the wine was correctly stored and the cork was in great condition. Great nose, but finish falls flat. Nose has vegetable and eucalyptus, and is very promising. Body is not too flavorful, and finish collapsed shortly after opening, leaving a disappointing end. Read More

  • Some Young Punks Nebbiolo Blend Clare Valley Quickie! 2006

    Snoothrank:

A beautiful deep garnet wine falls from the bottle to my waiting glass. The aroma is delicious. Smells of spice and red currant hit my nose. A faint note of pepper lingers in the air. Upon swirling the wine in my glass, the scent becomes more complex - adding cherries, mocha and something else I can't put my finger on. Is it chestnut? Or plum? I... Read More

  • This isn't a question about the features/bugs of the site, and I don't know yet if there are duplicate wine listings -- I simply need help identifying the wine I drank, so I assume this question falls under 'general'. :)On Sunday, I went to a little tapas place in Greenwich Village with a couple friends, and along with tasty chorizo and stuffed... • The first big clue is the bottle itself:Bordeaux (the region but also many wines made with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cab Franc and Merlot). These bottles have high, heavy shoulders - the bottle is shaped this way to trap the sediment the falls out of the wine during aging.Burgundy (region but also most Pinot Noir, Chardonnay worldwide). These bottle h... Read More
