  • This morning I was pontificating in the coffee shop about wine bottle labeling.  My buddy, being the the ex-lawyer type, asked a lawyer question.  Who monitors this stuff?I then realized that I had never heard of anybody (OK, I'm talking domestically, here.) being accused of say:Labeling a bottle as "Cabernet Sauvignon" and, then, being caught f... • Just finished tasting Ballabourneen The Stuart 2013 Chardonnay (Australian Wine Selectors Hunter Valley Series January 2014 dozen), bottled under screwcap. Supposed to have a "round and subtle biscuity finish" Well the bottle I tasted was way to subtle for me I'm afraid! I think it is due to last week's tasting of the Tapanappa  2008 Tiers Picca... Plus, they work with a very sophisticated wine lab and the QC is much better. What do you think? Read More

  • Apparently, it is illegal to sell wine gift bags in the same place as you sell wine. Does this sound as absurd to you as it does to me?http://www.9wsyr.com/news/local/story/Liquor-store-fined-10-000-for-selling-wine-gift/s_rXGUm_0UaH1ZosUApVSA.cspx Read More

  • Sooo... I just had the wonderful opportunity to have a 'small' group wine tasting with Gary. Sometime I find him a little annoying on his blog, a little too in your face, but he really is a smart guy. So I thought I'd regurgitate some of what he talked about -- some I agree with, some definitely not. The new regions he liked were Washington s... Read More
