The personal touch.... Like our winemakers we are independent and committed to providing a friendly but professional experience to you the wine lover. Our vision is to make these fabulous wines accessible to you and to bring you as much pleasure drinking them as we have sourcing them and meeting the marvellous people that create them. How many times have you been disappointed? It's unfortunate but some winemakers have taken the easy route and compromised producing cheap tasting wines and not always at cheap prices. Wines without originality, where so often the natural process has been interrupted by over concentrating, by artificial flavourings being added and by the wine being filtered time and again. So where are the Real Wines? Thankfully the good news is there are still some hardworking men and women for whom winemaking is a “labour of love”. With skills passed down over generations and a respect for tradition, allied to a love and passion for wine. They produce remarkable wines with individuality Read more »

  • ESOL, I've got some Clio I'm looking to drink soon.  You're not very far away if you have an interest.  It's regularly available at Wine Thieves in Lafayette, I recall.  I'd also look at the Mataro from 3Wines, Matt Cline's heritage vineyard brand.  Prices are good if you buy through WineAccess (and WineThieves, which carries many of his bottles... • HI everone. New to Snooth here, but would love some recommendations. Not so much on the varietals- but specific wines/vintages if you have any favorites to share.I crave the darkest, inkiest wines that you can only drink with good friends (or alone haha) because your mouth turns purple. I tend to prefer dark fruits over red, full body, fruit for... Read More

  • Thanks for the invites, but can't make it. Wish I could.Still stand by my *weak* categorization. US prices for French wines are as good as in France in many cases, even if specific winemakers may be difficult to access. If it were me, I'd want a stronger, broader reference point than you guys seem to care about. Think of them as Lafayette, rathe... Read More

  • OT, if you like the fruit, 3Wines (Matt Cline) bottles Evangelho at a great price.  Check out and get on the list--they have the best price on it unless you live near Wine Thieves in Berkeley and Lafayette. I had a Waxwing Syrah (2010) last night that friends brought over when we did our Nebbiolo dinner recently.  It was the ripe,... • On Saturday morning, while I was having my coffee and bagel, it occurred to me that it would be fun to drive up to the Central Coast and visit some wineries.  It took about 20 milliseconds to convince Peggy that this was a good idea.  I did have to take care of one issue at the bank.  (In fact, the bank visit was totally unsuccessful and that is... • After today and last weekend, I wanted to discuss the pricing of various wine events- which ones are worth it, and which- not so much.  Here are some of the priciest I have attended:  Taste of Sonoma:  $100-150 depending on your discount;  Treasure Island Wine Festival $55; Rhone Rangers SF, ~$100.  Many folks I know think this is a high price p... • Last week the U.S. Department of Agriculture awarded a $3.9 million grant to develop a mechanical sprayer. The chemicals used in vineyards have become so toxic that they are considered a health hazard for humans. In other words, the government is trying to find a way to make spraying highly toxic chemicals on grapes more convenient. And we haven... Read More
