  • Wow. Kind of a reflective, melancholy tone here!We were in Sonoma over the weekend, saw OT, Fox and some other folks, and stopped at a winery called White Oak. The guy who built it was there. He was a builder in Alaska but ended up in Sonoma some forty years ago. Did the carpentry, plumbing, cement work, etc. Kind of like OT. Anyhow, the wines w... Read More

  • So on a whim we decided to visit British Columbia. But we flew up to Washington, so visited a few places there too. Totally off the subject of wine, I found an awesome bakery in Spokane and the girl there served me this thing that I thought was a kind of Parmesan cheese foam. In fact it was fermented cashew whip, which was definitely weird, but ... Read More

Great little wine. Review to follow... Notes of celery, strawberry confit and perhaps a touch of raspberry - depending on the moment. Entry is silky smooth, like a fine Beaune; there is strawberry (though slightly muted) and more vegetable notes like celery stalk - topped off with a sprinkle of vanilla. This mature, well-made PN only needs a ... Read More

Quite oaky nose. Sure enough, very noticeable flavors from oak--caramel--but, also nice citrus and stone fruit flavors. Truly excellent tartness. Nice wine for the price. Read More

  • This Topic is partially intended to start a new thread on daily wine drinking as the earlier topics are just too long and too general.  How about telling us more about your choices and helping me start a new thread for the next generation, so to speak?  The "why" is the interesting part for some of us - but pictures are always welcome; after all... • Wind Gap Sonoma Coast Gap's Crown Vineyard Pinot Noir 2015

Garnet color with a fair amount of light coming through. Lots of red fruitcherry, strawberryon the tip of the tongue. Some pretty serious acid prevents it from seeming syrupy. In fact, the descriptive word that comes to mind is lean. Not terribly complex to my palate, but, certainly, not offensive. Read More
