  • Some very tempting offerings here. Well organized listing, too. Barolo by Commune It’s conventional wisdom (repeated to the point of cliché) that each of the towns in the Barolo zone produce wine of specific character, a reflection of local geology and other factors. And generally speaking an educated taster has a decent chance of telling Serral... Read More

  • Recent research shows that a glass of red wine a day is like twenty minutes of vigorous exercise. So before summer rosés officially take hold, get in on the last gasps of Cabernet. I tasted through forty different Cabernets, all under $16. There are some superb examples here that you’re going to want to try. Cabernet, because of the value inhere... Read More

  • Marquis de Riscal Tempranillo 2006

What a long and busy day! I came home and thought about opening a good bottle of wine, but it's only Monday! If my life is this hard already this week I'd be drinking gasoline by the weekend...on second thought, good wine is now cheaper than gasoline! Instead I've opened up one of my bargain bottles from a few weeks ago so I can save money to... Read More

  • Round Hill Cabernet Sauvignon 2008

This wine is nothing too special, but you know what? It's a great, easy drinking cab, with mild aromas of rich red fruit (cherries, blackberries, etc.) along with some leather and tobacco. The taste is mildly fruity, with a nice clean finish that just says, "you've had a tough day, let me help you take the edge off." And that is certainly can... Read More

  • Casanuova Delle Cerbaie Sangiovese Grosso 2004

The wine has a garnet color in the glass with a hint of rust color along the edges. The nose was somewhat "woodsy" which I guess is my technical term for a combination of moss, oak, cedar, earth and tobacco all swirling around. The taste had some tart cherry, and mild acidity and a subtle spiciness that made for quite a backbone on this wine. ... Read More

  • A friend and I had a regions-of-the-world tasting, and we had a Brunello that we loved (Nardi 2003).  I paid about $37 for it, but it was on sale and is more like $60-$80.  My friend has been learning more about wine recently, and was really ecstatic about this bottle.  I told her that she has expensive taste and she's going to have to spend abo... • Being a fan of Pinot Noir from Burgundy, Cabernet and Merlot from the left and right banks of Bordeaux and Rhone varietals from, you guessed it, the Rhone valley, I've had trouble finding wines that I really like from California. Sure there have been a number of very good, and occasionally great, bottles, but my experience has been about a 20% a... Read More

  • Hi, I am hosting a varietal wine tasting for 6 people. This is my first, I'm a total newbie as are all my guests. I'm wondering how many different labels I should have in my tasting and then how many bottles of each for six people. This will be a blind tasting and I want to throw in a Merlot or other varietal to shake things up. Also, this n... Read More

  • Although I have long considered Cabernet Franc my favorite red, I have been sadly disappointed with nearly every one I have tried this year...except one--Heron Hill's Ingle Vineyards 2006 Cabernet Franc (Finger Lakes) brought back my love of Cabernet Franc. It is a 2006, though and many other wineries are on their 2007 vintage for Cabernet Franc... Read More

Well rest assured that we are equal opportunity imbibers here at Snooth and are interested in any wine that gives you your Grenache fix! To start us off allow me to run straight for the southern Rhone and wri... Read More
