  • Just thought I'd add a little something to the "wine I would not drink ... there. Another stop was at Torre di Pietra Vineyards. Here is where I got my true introduction to the Texas wine tasting philosophy. I was sampling a 2012 Sangiovese from a vineyard in Blanco county. Faint aromas of black cherries on the nose, but mostly what I get is a beautiful smokiness and creamy vanilla, with just a hint of rich caramel. I would call this one of the best wines in Texas. Nice and ple... Read More

  • While discussing pruning techniques with a chap in Texas he told me he has just planted a small vineyard with LeNoir and Blanc du Bois.  I have absolutely no idea what type of wine these grapes might produce.  I presume they are hybrid, developed for disease resistance?  Can anyone shed some light on this - can they make quality wine?  Read More
