  • Just got back from my 3rd annual CA stint where I've been helping my favorite winemaker during crush and harvest. Thought it would be fitting to open this bottle of Scherrer Shale Terrace zin.  Just an amazing zin!  There's a neat hit of perfume on the nose of mainly black cherry and some forest/earth.  Loads of black fruit that hit the middle o... • Wine drinking is more than consuming alcohol, I miss that part but it is still my hobby.I still get enjoyment reading, learning and discussing it. My wife is still drinking it. It is still fun to go and pick up wines that are diverse from what she drinks in restuarants and that I know she will enjoy. Read More

  • Rodney, let me add my welcome,I haven;t posted here in a while.  We were on a cruise, and, then, I came back with an upper respiratory infection--it happens.  I am, pretty much, recovered and getting back in the groove.I have mentioned my brother-in-law multiple times here on Snooth.  He regularly brings me BC wines when he goes fishing down the... • Building a cellar isn’t always about laying down the most expensive wines on earth. It should also be about laying down wines that will improve with age, developing nuanced complexity that they simply can’t reveal in the flush of their youth. There are plenty of wines from around the world that really change over the course of time yet don’t cost... • Well, DV, the Bordeaux Release is the largest ever, I think, with something like 241 product listings.  However, the advertisement was pretty much strictly on their internet site and at various locations set to offer the wines for sale.  To me, the whole operation is amateurish and stuck on the idea of first come, first served line-ups on the ea... • Hi everybody.  I returned last Sunday from two weeks in Italy.  We flew Vancouver to Paris and spent the first day walking everywhere, basically "Paris in six hours".  Saw Palace of Versailles the next day and more walking around Notre Dame and Sacre Coeur.  Flew to Bologna that evening.  Next day we took a train to Florence and spend three days...
