Wine Exchange was originally established in Orange, California in 1982 under our previous name, Liquor Exchange. In 1990 we officially changed our name to Wine Exchange, more properly reflecting our wine orientation. Since the beginning our philosophy has been to diligently select the world's finest wines and operate as efficiently as we can, allowing us the opportunity to operate on a much lower margin than our competition. In fact, Wine Exchange was one of the first wine stores in Southern California to adopt a discount format for selling fine wine. The concept was to buy large quantities of wine, taking advantage of discounts available, and pass those savings onto the consumer without abandoning our commitment to service and selection. Wine Exchange has a multi-page newsletter we call the Stock Report (such as it is), typically 48-64 pages full of original information that has been published every month since February, 1985. We run a wine tasting program based on subjects which we create ourselves Read more »

  • Winex is a fantastic wine store. Their team is enthusiastic and knowledgable, their palates and noses are good to excellent (they select great wines, consistently), yet their prices are excellent, I've never had a bad bottle of wine sold to me. To my knowledge Winex was the first store in the area to adopt the Napa Technology preservation mach...

  • One of my goals for 2019 was to read more of wine books. It's a resolution to which I've stuck, and more of my recent favorites will be shared with you here in the coming months. Today's selection is Around the World in Eighty Wines by Mike Veseth. Inspired by the Jules Verne classic, Around the World in Eighty Days, Veseth takes us from Algeria... Read More

  • I have been thinking for a while on the idea of facilitating the meeting up in person of those loyally frequenting this site.My preference is to make these meetings open to all members, and even varying the location of any meeting according to convenience since we live all over the world (though mostly in North America). In any case, this new thr... • A generous gift from EMark at that!I am pleased that you enjoyed it, OT.Not really that generous.  Offering a single bottle of wine in exchange for the Outtheres' gracious hospitality is almost an embarrassment..  Folks, if you ever receive an invitation to the Forestville Chateau, clear your calendar--cancel the President, cancel the Queen, can... • Good to see you around DV!Fixed a friend's boiler and he paid you in wine! Great exchange. It's really a shame that BC wine doesn't find its way down into the States more often. Not that we need more examples, but thanks to you I've found a few that are quite enjoyable and serious contenders. So still post about those once in a while if your dog ... Read More

  • Well, if that run is either Mending Wall or California Cab in general, you probably can't go wrong.  My drinking of US wines has declined with the exchange rate... there are better deals for me here from the EU or Oz.  But that does not mean I don't want to drink Cali wines.  Nothing could be further from the truth, and when I am down your way, ... • One of the few real bargains left in France are found in the southern Rhone and Bouche du Rhône and fall under the appellation Cotes du Rhône and Cotes du Rhône-Villages.  These wines are delicious whether red or white, and are still affordable at good price to quality ratios.  Their copies in Australia, South Africa, Australia and North America... • This Topic is partially intended to start a new thread on daily wine drinking as the earlier topics are just too long and too general.  How about telling us more about your choices and helping me start a new thread for the next generation, so to speak?  The "why" is the interesting part for some of us - but pictures are always welcome; after all...
