Any DCV Zin in the Town of Sonoma?

Posted by sambuca, Jul 21, 2010.

Are there any wineries in / around the town of Sonoma using DCV grapes to make their Zin?  Just curious, would love to sample the DCV Zin, but do not have enough time to make it up to DCV itself.

Thanks!

Dry Creek fruit in Sonoma proper?

  1. Ravenswood Teldeschi DCV Zin
  2. Sebastiani DCV Zin
  3. Homewood "Hoskins Vineyard" DCV Zin
  4. Moon Mountain DCV Zin

Not too many Sonoma (City of) wineries do Zinfandel. they focus more on Cab, Chard, PN, Merlot.

i was online searching tasting rooms for a reply to this post... and i came up short....

@outthere... i'm glad you had some suggestions...

i've found ravenswood to be a little hit or miss, depending on where the grapes came from with different bottlings...

on a seperate side note, have you tried lake sonoma zin?

I have a bottle in my cellar that a friend brought over that hasn't been popped yet. You like?

Here are the wineries that are on the Square according to Sonoma Valley Vintners and Growers:

Wineries on Sonoma Plaza

  1. Charles Creek Vineyard
  2. Roche Carneros Winery
  3. Roessler Cellars
  4. Eric K James Vineyard
  5. Highway 12 Vineyards & Winery
  6. Sojourn Cellars
  7. Madrone Ridge at Enoteca-Sonoma
  8. Westwood Winery

Out of those listed so far I think only Ravenswood does DCV zin in the area.  Everyone else uses Sonoma Valley fruit.
