Chemical components of red wine

Posted by dmcker, Jun 1, 2014.

Oh boy--another good infographic! Whoopee!

This comes from the same people who provided that 'bad science' infographic I've used in a couple of threads.

I'm fully expecting GregT to respond quickly.  ;-)

A fuller text description is also provided at the CompoundInterest site. Well worth visiting.

This came from their May 28 post.

Very happy to see I'm satisfying my daily water intake!  ;-) ;-)

"Other Compounds" is an interesting category....for cheaper wines, sometimes mega-purple, mega-red, benzoyl peroxide I've even heard from a chemist who got her start at a Lodi winery.

'Other compounds' is obviously what it's all about.

I like the fact that they decide red wine should be 12% alcohol.  ;-)

NG, my sister tried to get me on that 7-glasses-of-water-a-day (or however many) regime, but I told her:

a) tap water isn't the tastiest in Tokyo

b) bottled water industry is largely a scam

c) I drink lots of tea (and some coffee)

d) I get plenty of water in my food, and

e) I drink lots of wine (and some beer)!

Exactly right about water in food...a hamburger is about 50% water from what I've heard...

I heard a thing on NPR news a couple years ago (results of a medical study) that said even though coffee has a mild diuretic effect, it's better than not drinking enough water.  I figure if I have to pee as much as I do, I must have enough fluids, but when I'm working and am not drinking water frequently, my body tells me I'm really thirsty.  Funny how our bodies tell us what it needs!

Go with the flow!

That whole x gallons of water per day thing has been debunked not too long ago and I totally agree DV, for simple day to day living, do what your body tells you, if you're choking down that last half gallon of water at the end of the day just to satisfy some research data, that's not good.
