Good Chardonnays and Petite Syrahs?

Posted by barri0s1872, Apr 20, 2010.

So it's been a while since i've post but i haven't stopped drinking!

i haven't had any chardonnays in a while, american or otherwise. so i'm wondering if anyone knows of any good buys when it comes to chards.

Same goes with Petite Syrahs. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Try 2007 Vina Robles-  Paso Robles PS Jardine for < $20

or 2008 McManis Family Vineyards PS for < $10.  Both a good QPR.

2008 Bernier Chardonnay Vins du Pays de la France for < $7 For the money probably one of the best out there. Especially for people who don't like over-oaked Chard's.

http://www.klwines.com/ has the Chard and the McManis but not the Vina Robles.

Oaky Chard? Try Bonterra. Another good <$12 wine.

awesome!

i'm also willing to spend like 25 bucks if it's a good Chardonnay or PS, but cheap and good is great!

Here you go, this one is a bargain at the price:

Bogle Vineyards' Petite Sirah was really nice and not too expensive (I think around $14).

La Crema Chardonnay  Los Carneros 2007  (Napa California)

This would never disappoint....elegantly balanced with zesty  lemon

notes.....quite complex and rich with a spicy finish.

I enjoyed it here in Miami at a wine bar.

I must agree with amour La Crema Chardonnay is an excellent wine and priced around $20 for a 90 pointer. I would add a 07 Ferrari-Carano. Soft oak, apple, pear and tropical fruit, nicely balanced and complex. Very refreshing all by itself.

Yes, La Crema is a good recommendation from Amour.

I personally like Sonoma, Russian River, and Carneros chards.  My fave is Selby out of healdsburg.  Also do like the Chalk hill vineyards too.

As far as petit sirah, my hands down fave is the current release from Outpost Winery in Howell Mtn, Napa.

Here's another thread that talks about La Crema chards. If you read down that thread you'll also see yet another link to a thread on Sonoma chardonnay in general.
