I need to put together, in a hurry, some mixed cases to lay down. I'd prefer to pay £20 or less a bottle and would like a variety of regions (unusual suggestions welcomed), preferably mostly reds and they need to be readily available in the UK now. Any suggestions. Obviously not for long ageing in that price range, 3-5 years or so is fine.
Good-value mixed case to lay down

With these kind of specs, i'd suggest looking in to Rioja's.
Here's a Rioja Crianza i'd recommend:

Thank you Jon, this has gone on my shopping list. For lack of suggestions from other Snoothers, I ended up also with some 08 St Emilion and Haut Medoc, Sth Aus Jim Barry McRae Wood and Petaluma Shiraz, and 2006 Barolo. They all went just slightly over the £20 budget and most will need longer ageing but that's ok.

Sorry not to have chimed in earlier. What was the Barolo?

Lindy - Sorry my end too
What vintages for the McRae Wood and Petaluma? If 08 they both should be in good drinking form in 5 years

@dmcker - just Oddero in that price bracket. Stephen, was '05 for the McRae Wood and '07 for Petaluma Shiraz. Still open to suggestions if you have any.

Both should be good for 5 years, 07 was a patchy year but Adelaide Hills is OK

No problem Lindy, it's hard to know when people are being serious with their questions, but it looks like you've done what you set out to do and then some. You definitely have some good regions represented. What were the 08 St Emilion and Haut Medoc? For St. Emilion i'd recommend Fleur Cardinale, always good value...

What it was,Jon,is that a 4-case gap needed plugging at my vaults before the June year-end. I had to fill it quickly and economically but wanted to add some different things to the usual Bordeaux/Burgundy/Rhone mix. Despite buying wine for ageing what seems like every week of the year I still end up with year-end full-quota issues. Those older cases just seem to 'disappear' somewhere (;

I wonder where Lindy????
Me thinks you are no orphan on the dissappearing case/bottle problem. I have a 24yo & 21yo still living at home!!!!
