Introduce Yourself

Hello Snooth!

Posted by grebi91, Dec 11, 2017.

Bonjour!

Please accept my introduction today. Currently, I am Proprietor of La Maison d' Orange, an upscale bed and breakfast, located in Orange, Texas; seeking to improve my knowledge of wines and purchase wines for La Maison clientele. You can preview La Maison on FB and Yelp. Calm is our motto here and that also includes wine tastings. La Maison opened in March, 2017 to host guests from all over our beautiful world. One consistent favorite of our guests has been the Castellblanch Cava.  As you know it provides a fresh and airy taste. Am very interested in choosing a "house wine" in each category (a cabernet sauvignon, a red blend, a pinot noir, a chardonnay and a sauvignon blanc) which would be my daily go to. Something noteworthy, yet affordable. I would appreciate any input towards that endeavor.

Please may you enjoy a lovely day!

Gina

Gina, welcome to the Snooth wine forum.

Can I recommend you select a Pinot Noir from the Willamette Valley in Oregon?  These are similar to the Pinot Noir found in Burgundy, France.

Hey Gina - A couple of questions...Stateside wines or international?  Price range?

Welcome to Snooth Gina. House wines. Judging from the Cava your serving, I'd recommend the wines of Columbia Crest Winery and Chateau Ste. Michelle. Both are made in Washington State and offer a complete line of wines at different price points that are good for their price range.

Hi Gina - as RCKR said, your price range is really important. There are hundreds of wines and price limits will really help narrow things.

And how did you settle on those varieties? Is that what you get questions for?

Another thing you might consider is having a few Texas wines in the mix. I know the Hill Country is producing some but there are others. Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to work my way over there yet but it might be interesting for some of your guests to have a few pairings, like a wine from France or CA and a similar one from Texas.
