Manhattan Cocktail Classic (Preview), 3 & 4 October 2009

Posted by gr, Aug 17, 2009.

"Welcome to the Manhattan Cocktail Classic, New York City’s first ever multi-day event celebrating the history, contemporary culture, and artful craft of the cocktail. Part festival, part fête, part conference, part cocktail party, the Manhattan Cocktail Classic brings together the unparalleled talents and opportunities of the bars, bartenders, and restaurants of our great city for two days of activities, both educational and celebratory in nature, championing the common ideals of authenticity, equality, sustainability, service, and pleasure. (There will be some drinking involved, too.)"

It's Tales of the Cocktail - or see my prior thread about it, yes, I still owe a longer summary but haven't had the time - but north of the Mason-Dixon line. I will, of course, be there, and RBoulanger probably will as well.

Any other takers?

(Tickets aren't on sale till 7 or 8 September, as the schedule isn't solidified yet. I expect that you will be able to buy tickets for the whole weekend, a single day, or just specific events along the way.)

Glad to see this posted.

I'll take a bit of credit here, if only for my encouragement!

Hopefully this will be quite the event!

Okay, folks, this coming weekend is the Manhattan Cocktail Classic. Many of the seminars are sold out, but there are still tickets available for the official bar in the Lounge at Astor ($25 gets you in with two free drink tickets, which is essentially the cost of two decent cocktails in most decent joints in NYC, and you get to wander around and mingle with cocktail fans and working bartenders) and for the Sunday Night Gala at the NY Public Library (in, natch, Astor Hall), although that's a bit pricier ($100).

If you're around either Saturday or Sunday, I'd encourage you to drop by, or if you'd prefer to just catch up Saturday night (when there are no scripted--or ticketed--event activities, just many local places to hit with the crowd from the MCC), feel free to drop me a private note here to exchange contact information.

I wish I could go, if only to see the space and watch someone try and handle the stress!

Have fun y'all.
