Need advice for sparkling wine tasting

Posted by cafelinhchi, Feb 10, 2015.

I'm putting together a blind tasting of sparkling wines, ideally with all four methods of sparkling wine production represented.
Trà linh chi
There are, of course, lots of examples of traditional method sparkling wines to choose from (Champagne, Cava). Same goes for the Charmat method wines (Prosecco).

Where I need suggestions is the transfer method and the carbonation method wines. So two questions:

1) Can anyone think of a wine made with the transfer method (fermented in bottle but then disgorged into a tank, filtered, and put into new bottles) that is widely available and of reasonable quality?

2) Is there anything made using the carbonation method that isn't so horrible that it will offend?

Thanks!

UK-located user but looks Vietnamese to me...

Or so I thought until your excellent snag over at winespectator, Greg!

ROFLMAO

Is the Cafe plagiarizing, or does Big Al wear several hats? Inquiring minds, and all that...

Or maybe Cafelinhchi has been hacked? Really weird post to do on behalf of someone else.

Anyhow, Al's in Virginia right close to the NSA so I imagine it won't be long before they're involved.

If not already.

Merely a training exercise, or maybe even interview test. Although security being what they are on Snooth and at WineSpectator, more like equivalency exam so can skip Freshman introductory course...

Close to NSA?  You know, I did work on a program where they were the customer once.  Can't tell you anything of course, but the world is a safer place because of it's success.

Now why do you associate this new posting with me?

1) Not always the case, so excuse me if I don't take that comment at face value.

2) Have you jumped to the link and read it?

He's playing dumb. Apparently this is on a need-to-know basis only. It's getting very spooky.

Well done, Greg, nothing gets past you not only in the wine context!. You so rightly point to that there must be a reason why he's so long in Virginia/Capital Sphere rather than the California he hailed from that has not only better weather, better biking conditions and more spectacular scenery, but far better wines. Definitely must be playing dumb...

But are we playing into his calculating scheme? All those things you point out are so true, and yet we didn't put them together until now.

Perhaps it was that Vietnamese link that let the (rescue) cat out of the bag...  ;-)

Plenty of cat meat on the backstreets of Hanoi. Even the Chinese customs folks turn up their nose at trade in cats being sent there for meat...

Ok, I checked the link on the Wine Spectator Forum.  Obviously, this 'CAFELINHCHI' is a scammer and probably eats red meat with white wine.  I posted a public message on this forum demanding he stop this practice and remove that bogus posting on the other forum.

How can we get this guy banned from Snooth?  I wonder what else he has done?

GT - Can you please post on that other forum link that this guy is a scammer and he simply copied another persons posting?

Also, let it be known that riding a motorcycle in the Mid-Atlantic region is actually better than the foothills of Malibu, Topanga Canyon, Kanun Dune, Angels Crest Highway, etc. in CA.  The reason?  There is so much more greenery and plenty of beautiful winding roads out here, minus the smog that I would see in Southern California.  The fall colors in Virginia are spectacular, especially along the Blue Ridge Mountains.  Of course, back in CA I was riding Honda motorcycles, and out here I've been riding Harley motorcycles.  That certainly has affected my enjoyment too.

You know, I was thinking the same thing yesterday when I was out on my daily rounds. Why can't we have the greenery, winding roads and clean air like they have in VA.

Today I might have to take some more pictures of the not so pretty California roadways, smog and the lack of motorcyclists.

Where?

Not sure where you were going with the Cosby reference but he's not the first person I would think of when it comes to honesty and integrity.
