Offbeat Italian Wines

Here's a pretty interesting Italian red I throughly enjoyed recently and wrote up.  Anyone else ever had this?

2007 Manene Cersauolo di Vittoria DOCG Classico by Palo Cali

Neophyte Italian winemaker and producer Paolo Cali blends the normally dense and rambunctious nero d’Avola grape of Sicily with the lighter, fruitier frappato varietal (60/40 blend) and fashions an interesting Cerasuolo di Vittoria Classico—a dry red table wine that shows a surprising amount of elegance and finesse. Called Manene (after his young son, Emanuele), fragrant aromas of wild strawberries and dried currant leap from the glass, while fig jam and chocolate licorice flavors coat the palate initially. The wine also offers up earthy, almost mineral-like flavors on the back note, finishing with ripe red cherries and a hint of coffee bean. Moderately tannic, the wine strikes a nice balance between acid and fruit. As well structured as a better Chianti Classico and equally perfect to enjoy with pasta or red meat. A bargain at about $25.00
