Hi... Went on a family holiday to Cagliari recently and stayed at the excellent T Hotel where we finished up drinking - on the waiter's recommendation - an absolutely superb red called Is Solinas (Isola del Nuraghi). We paid 14 euros a bottle in the hotel. I have paid £20 a bottle to have some shipped to me from a UK supplier. 14.5% vol, dark, blackish purple, superb nose of prunes, tar, old leather, fabulously smooth and rich, no hint of the metallic edge that can sometimes typify Italian reds. Why on earth this stuff is not imported by one of the big high-street stores I don't know. Perhaps insufficient is produced? Anyway, very strong recommendation for fans of eg New World reds, though this really is a whole league above £10+ bottles bought in supermarkets. I am no expert, so I would be interested to hear from aficionados whether they are as impressed as I am by this magnificent drink!
