Search for Bagatelle wine

Posted by Nicola711, Aug 7, 2009.

Hi there everyone!
I'm looking for a specific red wine that I had with my boyfriend in Wimereux, it would mean a lot if I could find the exact same bottle. It was a 2007 Manoir de la tete rouge bagatelle saumur, from the Loire valley. Does anyone know where I might be able to buy it online?? I've searched for hours an hours and all I can find is tasting reviews of the 2005 one. Although if I could find the 2005 to buy that would do! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks guys

'Bagatelle' means a trifle, and I guess this is not a trifling search for you. ;-)

This wine from the Loire is made enirely from cabernet franc, most common for the Saumur region (their white is from chenin blanc, also the standard there). The current owner makes a point that they grow their grapes biodynamically, after shifting to organic from 1998 so as not to 'pollute' the ground any more, and they ferment in cement tanks. The vines are relatively young. Their site has no notes for the 2007 vintage red, only the 2004 and 2005. You can learn a bit about the winery's land and practices from their website, though the English translation is abominable, possibly machine-translated by a very cheap computer program.

Here's a place to order the 2005 online from Illinois at $14 a bottle, $168 per case:

Hope you both enjoy the wine again!
