Would be nice if so, though doubt GDP can outgun the entire marketeering machine for Barolo in Italy and everywhere else it's sold.

Thanks for the pointer, OT. Show's how out of touch I am that I didn't even know about this website of GDP's. Still looks to be a work in progress, but is refreshingly interesting.

Enjoyed the report as well. Runs a bit counter to another friend's impressions who has spent a lot of time there as well. For example, he loves Fenocchio's 2012's while GdP didn't have too many nice things to say.

It is good to hear that there were some success, as it is a birth year for my son and I did plan on buying some.

Those can be the first bottles you open with him.  ;-)     Save the other regions' wines (and maybe even nearby-but-better vintages) for milestone events further down the line...

Yup, a work in progress, with modest progress. It's a challenge to find the time to do everything one hopes to do.

There are plenty of decent wines from the vintage, and even the Fenocchio wine showed reasonably well, though we've been conditioned to expect everything to be great these days.

The wines in general and definitely a step down from vintages like 10, 11, and 13.

GdP, are the scores "adjusted" for your usually restrained scores?  In other words, is your 86 like your pre-adjust 86 or is it really an 82 bumped up?

I wouldn't say Claudio's wines got singled out in any way, and the actual verbiage makes it clear that they fall into the middle of the pack or slightly higher.  The Castellero was a GdP 90, for instance.

GdP, why do you think the Cogno wines were so successful?  Did that part of Barolo just miss the worst of the weather?

Did Fabio at Burlotto just pull magic out of a hat?  Considering how non-interventionist he is, he would seem to be highly at risk on a tough vintage.

Well still very much appreciated Greg. Went back and checked your 2011 notes, think I'll just circle back and buy more 2011's!

Got plenty of 2011s to tide me over, now I'm waiting on the 2013s.  Hoping to buy a few over there and save a bit of cash...I think the airfare will offset the savings, though.

Why not get more 2011s while the getting's good? You'll likely be happy you did 10 years down the line.

Never really can have too many good barolos lying on their sides, in wait for the proper future opportunity to slurp them down...
