How do you like to drink your vodka?

And what kinds of whisky do you like, Scotch (blended or single malt), Irish, bourbon or rye?

There is no such thing as "best".  Taste is subjective.

Why do I think this is the same poster as prateesh?

Certainly Scottish. Depending on what u like, few of the best are single malt- McCallan, Edradour

My personal favouite is Highland Park from the Orkney Islands.Mind you;it was the first distillery I actually visited

I don't think I will ever learn to appreciate whisk(e)y. Vodka, yes, but doesn't every vodka taste the same (excluding the flavored ones, ie)?

Irish Whisky for me every time, especially enjoy a drop of Bushmills 16 Year old / 3 wood single malt from Northern Ireland.

Yes, I agree with the above comments...tell us what kind of whiskey you are in to  (burbon, irish, scotch...) and also, how you like to drink your vodka (dry/dirty martini, on the rocks, in a fruity cocktail).  Also, what price range are you wanting to stay in?

I would love to help.  I have been a bartender for the past 10 years and though I love wine, vodka martinis are my speciality!!

Bushmills can't be beat - especially if you go up to the distillery on the north coast of County Antrim; there the folks of that 17th Century concern can offer you many variations on a theme you won't meet in the local liquor store.

I probably prefer Irish to Scotch because I'm Canadian and was weaned on Canadian Rye Whiskey.

Martinis are made of gin, not vodka.  Pure blasphemy.

I agree there are no "BEST" in whiskey, wine, beer, etc. There are personal favorites but these change as your taste buds change by what you’re eating, how you’re feeling, what you’re doing or going to do afterward and by the season. After all, you probably don’t want a big smoky scotch when you’re BBQ’ing in the dog days of summer, but sitting by the fire in February it is the perfect choice.

Some of my favorite whiskey's are: American - Makers Mark, Gentelmen Jack; Irish -Tullamore Dew and Jameson1780 and Jameson; Scotch – The Mcclellan 18, although I normally settle for 12 year old Mcclellan, Oban 14 year, Dewar’s, Johnny Walker; Canadian – Crown Royal (I haven’t had many Canadian whiskeys but I understand they do make some wonderful rye whiskey). Another good scotch type whiskey is from Japan – Suntory. It is very smooth and well balanced.

Lastly, I agree with GDD - Martinis are "best" when made with Gin.
