Wine and Food Communication

Posted by Stephen Harvey, Feb 28, 2017.

I have attached below an article in our local paper featuring "Favourite" daughter, which I thought might create some interesting forum discussion on how the Food and Wine world communicate to consumers.

My take is that too often communication becomes too "clever" and tries to create buzz words which is ok with those in an inner circle but to the average consumer can be quite intimidating

My belief is that we should always use language that encourages people to ask and enquire because the more we learn...the more we learn [apologies for the Oxymoron]

Mel is lucky that she has been exposed to a large variety of food and wine but many of her friends and many from socio economic demographics you would think they would be exposed to more food and wine experiences in fact many have not

If we want food and wine to continue to be part of the next generation then we need to educate them by using easy too understand language

If we want to change the obesity trend that is almost if not an epidemic in Australia, UK and USA then education is a key.

Elliot the boy in the picture is the son of the owner of Chloe's which is one of the few remaining traditional Silver Service Fine Dining Restaurants in Adelaide and Nick is trying to find more ways too entice people to enjoy that form of dining

Not to say we don't have some amazing eateries here because we do and lots of great food innovation, use of local produce etc but many of these places put people off with menus that read like a description of the Martian landscape.

I will do a seperate post on wine lists later

As someone who engaged in SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION WRITING for 5 consecutive years unbroken, I surely know, quite intimately, the critical importance of writing for human beings!

Thanks for sharing that article! Congrats to you and your family!

I will read it and comment later.
