Wine software

Posted by jonjo, Jan 3, 2009.

Hi again,
Another quick question. Is there a good application for windows that would allow me to keep track of my wine notes? Or is there an online option?
Muchas Gracias Wine amigos

Jonjo - I'm a little biased (I'm the founder), but I would suggest that you use Snooth to do that.

What are you looking for that Snooth doesnt provide?

For an online version, I use

I have my inventory on that website and you can add tasting notes and see ones from other persons. It is really nice...

Phillip - I was using Snooth's cellar function but now that I can't access it from my phone I am not. I like to be able to look up what I have when I am out and about.

I am currently using wine spectator's online program. I like it but it takes a lot of work and entering of info in different places. If you are looking for a simple way to keep track, Snooth is a great program!

Ocean - noted, thanks - we didnt foresee that as a common use, but its something we can think about trying to add back if there's significant demand.

We need to launch that promised blackberry version as well...

As of a bit ago you can get back to the main Snooth site from the iPhone. Simply visit Snooth and it should ask if you want to go to the iPhone version. It doesn't force you to though...

And yes, it's something we can certainly address for a future update!

Oh , that's good to know, I'll check it out. Thanks!

Its not as easy to get back to the main Snooth site though, that involves clearing cookies - still possible, but not as trivial once youve made the choice of which site version to view

Any way to add recommended drink by dates?  have a great collection of wines and some hints on when things are at peaks levels would be good

One word - Cellartracker

The last word in inventory tracking, tasting notes, drink by dates, reports of all shapes and sizes.

I have lots of  affection for this site, made friends with many forum regs and been to every event I could get to, but, like OT, I use CT for my inventory.  In fact, I use the classic version of it because I like the cleaner appearance.  As far as I'm concerned, it's just a simple database or spreadsheet, I have little interest in the social functions.  (As long as OT alerts me to offline dinners, I'm covered.  I just can't manage this, CT and WB as social outlets and I like the format and crowd here.)  CT offers different ways to sort your cellar, works well with my Android phone and my Ipad and my laptop... I can give access to my cellar so friends (OT, JD, EricGuido, for a few) can see what I have paid, what I drank last week, or whatever, but mostly, I can just look up what I have and figure out if I am spending too much on one kind of wine, or have too much of something, or just think about what I want to drink with dinner.

In general, CT also has a good database of wines, but I'm starting to stump it with a few weird bottles.  Adding new wines isn't too hard, but there also aren't too many duplicates.

Fox, you have the uncanny ability to take one word and turn it into 240 words and say the same thing I did with that one word. ;)

I thought that as I wrote it. Avoiding work is a full time job some days.
