Angelo Rocca is committed to quality in his winery, and his vineyards. For generations his family has grown grapes in the hills of Barbaresco, starting at the turn of the 20th century. Today Angelo continues to work in the vineyards as well as the cellar. He seeks balance and harmony in combining traditional techniques and modern technologies. Slowly but steadily he has increased the size of his estate to its current 18 hectares. With most of his vineyards located in Barbaresco, Angelo also has vineyards in Neive as well as in the small village San Rocco Seno d'Elvio, which is located right outside of the town of Alba but is still in the Barbaresco appellation. In addition to Nebbiolo and Barbaresco, the grape and wine that are Angelo's greatest passion, the estate also produces Barbera, Dolcetto, Cortese and Chardonnay. The annual production of the estate is about 106.000 bottles, which are sold allover the world. Read less

[BFMS] Decanted for 2 hours, drank over 2. Lept out of the bottle. Strong aromas of flowers, red fruit, smoke, and some medicinal nose. Nothing subtle here. On the palate, cherrys, anise, and tar. Drink one now before it goes to sleep, then in 20 years.

[CLH Pasta] Start out hugely tannic, with some dark fruit, but very tight. Splash decanted then really opened, tannins subsided, remained very concentrated. Though develop currant, oak, tar. Really more cabernet like than I remember the previous bottle.

Fabulous aromas of crushed blackberries and strawberries follow through to a full-bodied palate, with soft, velvety tannins and a fresh finish. Very aromatic red. Best after 2007.

The 2001 Barbaresco Brich Ronchi features a complex nose with incense and chocolate mingled with notes of roses and anise, a rich, deep palate whose size and weight are balanced by much velvet and very supple tannins. Drink: 2005andndash;2018.

The multi-dimensional 2001 Barbaresco Bric Ronchi, a more saturated ruby, is soft and round, offering sensations of toasted oak, vanilla, ripe red fruits, macerated cherries, minerals and menthol with excellent length, and great freshness on the finish. Made from vines averaging 50andndash;60 years and aged in barrique. Anticipated maturity: 2008andndash;2016.

(aged in 60% new barriques) Saturated medium ruby color. Sappy aromas of black cherry and currant. Sweet, rich and chewy, with terrific depth of fruit and texture. Perhaps a bit international in style, but a wine of compelling richness. Finishes with big, broad, very fine tannins.
