Anderson's Conn Valley Vineyards Chardonnay Carneros Fournier Vineyard 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

As did his father, Gus, before him, Todd Anderson continues to impress critics--and us-- with superb, beautifully made wines."The perfumed 2009 Chardonnay Fournier offers up scents of lemon butter, orange blossoms and citrus, a medium-bodied, crisp, steely style and very good fruit. The big, boisterous aromatic profile is very much in keeping with this vintage for Burgundy varietals."Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Once the grapes are picked, which can take anywhere from three days to three weeks depending on the weather, they are crushed and the juice placed in large stainless steel tanks for fermentation. Fermentation is allowed to proceed until just the right amount of sugar has been converted to alcohol, at which point the young wine is separate from the remaining pomace of skins and sediment and racked into French oak barrels to age in the caves. Periodically, the barrels are racked over the course of two years to remove standing sediment prior to bottling, corking, labeling and packaging. Wine cases are then stored in a specially designed, temperature controlled warehouse. Read less

Medium bodied, hints of melon with herbs and ripe pears, toast and butter. A complexity that past vintages have not had. Minerals with peaches and cream. The fruitacidoak balance is perfect.
