Arbois Trousseau les Corvees Domaine de la Touraize 2016

Member Review by duncan 906:

I bought this bottle of wine for £10 from a stall in South London's Borough Market. It is from the Jura wine region of France,a part of Franche-Comte between Burgundy and the Swiss border in the foothills of the Alps. The Arbois appellation was created in 1936,although there has been viticulture here since at least the medieval era for wines from around the small town of that name and is the largest and most northerly appellation of the Jura region. My bottle is made of the trousseau grape,a grape which originated in this region but is also grown in other parts of the world, particularly Portugal, where it is called bastardo and used in port production. My bottle comes from a small family producer. I started it last night with my supper of chicken breast. There is some blackberry style fruit there but the taste was dominated by some very astringent tannins. I left the bottle open on the table overnight but things had not changed in the morning. I will not finish this bottle.I was disappointed because this is unlike other trousseau wines I have tried.Perhaps it needs some bottle age
