Ascheri Barolo Sorano Coste & Bricco 2001

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

Jammy on the nose in an oddly meaty and spicy way and while there’s not a lot of fruit here, there are lovely licorice root note along with hints of mint and orange peel Smooth, polished and crisp in the mouth with and fine black fruit that shows some earthy spice on the back end. This shows great balance in a restrained yet brooding way. Attractive middle of the road style. 90pts

In a world where wines are generally produced with the same grapes, the same technology, the same wood for ageing and above all the same consultants, our aim is to obtain a wine which is the expression of the vineyard it comes from, of the grapes it was made of, and above all of our own ideas. In order to achieve this, we have chosen a natural approach, with a moderate use of technology, without changing the nature of the wine with special procedures. We have attached new importance to old oak barrel ageing making choices entirely by ourselves. Read less
