Azienda Ceretto s.r.l. Barolo Grignore 1971

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

Dusty on the nose with a touch of artificial fruit flavor and lots of powdered sugar that reminded of a bag of crushed PEZ candy. There were a few nice hints of nettle that added freshness. In the mouth this was really attenuated with moutains of acidity though with food this revealed pure, lean and refined red fruits with nuanced sand herb and spice tones. It's very linear and taut but also refreshing and finely detailed. It will have a very long life but I don't see it improving. 2009-2013 89pts.

lacked some of the intensity of the Rinaldi with it's mineral and spicy nose that hinted at cinnamon and wild strawberries. Very well integrated in the mouth with a lithe character that showed good depth and roundness. A nice honest feel with bright acidity and nuances of cocoa and caramel add complexity. The finish seems a bit hot and has a bit of a grape pip quality. Another wine at peak with a very nice mouthfeel but lacking some complexity
