TASTING NOTES: Ruby-red colour. On the nose it surprises you with its powerful fruity character mingling with reminders of its noble ageing, traces of coconut, toffee and attractive wild herb nuances. After a powerful attack the sensation of soft, supple volume gradually extends across the palate to end with a long finish. In the aftertaste you are again reminded of the red-berry fruit mingled with hints of wild herbs. VINES: Mainly made using Tempranillo grapes grown in our Mendavia vineyards. AGING: After 20 months ageing in new American-oak casks, a further 24 months rounding off in the bottle has brought it to its moment of plenitude. ** Only 2 in Stock **

A dream come true, BARÓN DE LEY is a winery which was devised and founded in 1985 by a small group of prestigious Rioja professionals which decided to create a project which was unique at that time in the Denominación de Origen Calificada Rioja: a winery modelled on the Médoc châteaux, bringing together all the conditions that make a wine a work of art. With this objective, the creators of BARÓN DE LEY acquired the Imas estate, within the boundaries of Mendavia and on the left bank of the River Ebro. It is an exceptional place for growing vines due to its climatic conditions and the characteristics of its soils, on which 90 hectares of vines were planted. Read less

Very bright fruity nose. On the tongue there certainly is bright fruit but, wow, is it ever tart. There is some herbaciousness, but again, the, pretty much in your face, characteristic seems to be lemon pith. If this was a light-bodied white wine I would say “refreshing.” In a full-bodied red, though, I am just perplexed.

Opens with Caramel and Cranberry and some Black Tea leaf, moves on to Oak and Caramel with a bit of Cinnamon. then some 5 spice, Earth, and ripe Mango/Plum. Most of these scents carry over to the palate, but with more Oak, Earth, Mineral, Leather, and Plum. Well balanced but pronounced Tannins and Acidity. A little Alcohol burn and still, it seems, a young wine that should continue to age. Very long finish. At $19, a super value.

pale garnet colour. Attractive savoury nose with gamey, leathery and tobacco notes over cooked strawberry. Light bodied with silky tannins, cherry fruit notes on palate but disappointingly short, lacks weight and intensity.

Man was i sad to see this go. had been drinking a lot of bad spanish wines and was given this as a x-mas present. I really rediscovered what i missed in spain. lots of layers of complex flavors with a nice level of fruit with a mocha hint.

With an attractive red ruby coulor with medium-high intensity, in the nose it suprises for a powerful fruit remarkably blended with traces from its noble ageing: coconut and toffee, evolving into seductive nuances of spices and mediterranean bush. The attack is truly powerful and develops in the mouth a pleasant sensation of volume and onctuosity with drives us to a long finish, nervous and fresh due to its optimum acidity, and bringing back an aftertaste with red fruits and again mediterranean bushes. - Winery ** Only 1 in Stock **

Clean aromas of good intensity, with hints of wild berries, balsamic (cedar) and spicy notes either linked to snuff, and an elegant roasted coffee background good persistence. The palate is broad, meaty, spicy and with fond memories of Woods tied perfectly toned cocoa and ripe fruit. It has a crisp acidity and noble tannin that adds volume and elegance. Aftertaste good persistence, in which they come out fine spicy memories.
