Bedrock Wine Co. Compagni Portis Vineyard Sonoma Valley 2013

Member Review by EMark:

Clear pale yellow color. Very expressive nose—tropical fruits along with orange blossom floral. Not nearly as assertive on the tip of the tongue. I’m still getting the tropical fruit along with stone fruit, but it kinda sneaks up on you. An interesting mid-palate “heaviness” shows up and suddenly, these fruit flavors fade. Acid appears on the back end, but, to me, it is pretty subtle. Herbal and earthy sensations at the extreme back of the palate. A very enjoyable wine and a very complex, albeit, confusing one.

Bedrock Wine Co.:
Bedrock is an itsy-bitsy winery making wine in a converted chicken coop. Fruit from only the most excellent vineyard sites is hand pitch-forked into the destemmer, fermented in open top redwood and stainless vats using only native yeasts, and are manually basket pressed by winemaker Morgan Twain-Peterson into the sexiest oak from the coldest French forests.

Quite pale yellow color. Somewhat complex nose--I'm getting floral/spicy but also vanilla/oaky. Quite fruity on the tip of the tongue with some tropical fruit flavors and some melon. Some bitterness on the back of the palate. It is quite refreshing, though. This one will work with or without food accompaniment. US$25.00 from the winery mailing list.
