Bodegas Carrau Tannat Amat 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

The Amat was produced with the best Tannat grapes of very low production, around 5,000 liters per hectacre, obtaining a great concentration, manually harvested in the optimum maturation time. Aged in 50% French oak and 50% American oak for 20 months, and bottled without filtration. Deep intense colour. Long legs on the side of the glass. Rich aromas of ripe red fruits, plums and licorice. The oak gives complex flavours of coconut and fresh tobacco. It has firm structure, with soft tannins, giving it elegance and length on the palate. It has chewy body and will develop well with time. Ideal with any kind of meat, charcuterie and strong cheeses, spicy dishes and dried fruit and nuts.

I like this wine --very smooth finish with lots of tannins and dark red in color.
