Brunello di Montalcino Agostina Pieri /92vm 2012

Winemaker's Notes:

95 Points, Monical Larner, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Agostina Pieri has crafted a delicious wine. The 2012 Brunello di Montalcino is a dark and deeply perfumed expression of Sangiovese. The wine opens to a much deeper and blacker ruby hue than compared to past years and the bouquet is polished and smoothly textured. The alcohol is high at 15.5% but that power and intensity is nicely wrapped within the wine's supple richness. This is a delicious Brunello at a quasi-affordable price tag." 3/17. 92 Points, Ian d'Agata, Vinous: "Good bright, dark red. Very pure, fresh aromas of red cherry, violet, earth, and red licorice. Then silky and smooth in the mouth, with a light saline quality carrying through the rising, floral finish. Strikes me as much livelier and taut, but also more precise, than other vintages of this wine, usually marked by a soft, fleshy personality that I associate with this specific section of the Montalcino production zone. You might say the vintage wins out over the soil and microclimate in 2012." 3/17. 91 Points, James Suckling: "Soft and very fruity, showing the richness and ripeness of the vintage. Full body, round and velvety tannins and a flavorful finish. More fruit-forward style. Drink now."
