Castello Monaci Salice Salentino ''Liante'' DOC 2013 is a blend of 80% Negroamaro and 20% Malvasia Nera di Lecce that is hand-harvested, fermented in stainless steel and then aged in a combination of steel (75%) and French oak (25%) for 6 months. A deep ruby in color, this Italian red offers expressive aromas of plum, spice and vanilla with rich and pure flavors of mixed berry, cedar and smoke.

Summary "Liante" is the "wind of the Levant" which gusts throughout the Adriatic region. Terroir: Negramaro and Malvasia Nera di Lecce are sourced from estate vineyards surrounding the 16th century winery. Vinification: Grapes are hand-harvested before dawn to avoid exposure to the hot sun. The Negroamaro ripens first; typically in early September, followed by the Malvasia up to two weeks later. The grapes are macerated and fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks follow by 6 months in the cellar where 25% the wine will rest in French oak and the remainder in stainless steel. 50,000 bottles produced. Vintage Notes The 2013 Liante Salice Salentino is deep ruby red in color with an expressive bouquet of plum, spice and vanilla.
