I've not been a huge buyer of the 03 CdP's but wanted to try this based on the price ($20) and the Parker/Tanzer reviews which put this in the not overripe camp. I poured it blind for YB and he called it immediately as an '03 CdP. Very dark, with a nose of dried apricots, superripe raspberries and a touch of spice. The palate was heavy, out of balance with searing tannins. I can see how some would enjoy this- the fruit is very much in your face and it is exotic- not my speed.

If you like CdP - you will love this. Great QPR. I just had a bottle last week (7/08) and it is drinking very well. But it still has more time to develop. I have another bottle and I think I will wait another 3-4 years before I consume it.

I was really impressed with this wine, which delivered a lot of classic chateauneuf flavor. Summer fruits, spice, and herbs dominated the palate and the aromas. Rich color showed very little bricking, even at 9 years, and there was a surprising freshness for an older wine. I'm thinking this could cellar for a few more years, though it is drinking very nicely now. Not the most complex chateauneuf, but one that I'd happily seek out and drink again.

Pure, with alluring acacia, honeysuckle, yellow apple and melon flavors that glide through the long, stylish finish. Delicious. Drink now through 2010.

From the award-winning producer of amazing value red Chateauneuf du Papes comes this stunning, brilliant, fleshy white. Comprised of classic Rhone varietals: 25% Clairette, 25% Roussanne, 25% Bourboulenc, 25% Grenache Blanc. Incredibly aromatic, with lively acidity and complex, well-integrated floral, mineral and fruit flavors. When you want “something special,” this is the wine you are looking for.

Although winemaker Alexandre is a mere 27 years young he has grown-up in the vineyards and would tell you he’s been making wine for 20 years. His passion is expressed through his wines and truly shows in this fragrant, earthy and beautifully balanced syrah. Rosemary-Lamb would be a natural pair.

Gritty herbal and soft pear drop tomes. Supple and seductive. Fleshy spice and pepper.

Good tropical fruits and relaxed oak, with fine acidity and a kind of brown-butter and sage core that’s quite fetching. Mouth-coating and sensuous.

Any fan of white Burgundy or high-quality California Viognier should definitely appreciate the depth and complexity of this full-flavored, elegant white from the southern Rhône valley. Beautiful white fruits and floral notes waft from the glass, and the drinker is treated to a lush array of peach, melon, starfruit and honeysuckle on the tongue. Vibrant, with a round, palate-coating texture and a finish that goes on and on. This is one of my favorite white wines and I would never hesitate to recommend it to someone who was looking for a nice white for a gift or a special dinner.

A perfect balance between the fleshiness of Grenache Blanc, the aromatic character of Bourboulenc and the acidity of Clairette and Roussanne. Serve on its own or with shellfish and seafood, and with white meats “à la crême.”
